with disabilities. The Section 508 compliance law helps do the same for information
systems and digital content. More specifically, this law requires that systems and
technologies used by federal government agencies must include handicap-accessibility
for persons with disabilities.
For any business who works closely with the government or academic institutions,
this law is especially critical when developing an online application, website or
eLearning course. However, considering the needs of disabled users is also smart
business, as statistics show an increasing percentage of internet users have at least
some sensory impairment.
